Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Sigmar Gabriel, receiving a tile commemorating the 500th anniversary of the Reformation during his visit to the campus of Augusta Victoria Hospital, Mount of Olives, Jerusalem.

On Tuesday, 25 April 2017, the Lutheran World Federation Jerusalem Program welcomed German Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr. Sigmar Gabriel to its Mount of Olives campus. His Excellency Mr. Gabriel arrived in the Holy Land on 24 April and during his visit to LWF Jerusalem, was briefed by Representative Mark Brown and AVH CEO Walid Nammour on the hospital’s services to Palestinian cancer patients from Gaza and the West Bank. The government of Germany has been a generous supporter of AVH and during the visit, Representative Brown expressed his gratitude for this important relationship.

During his visit, Mr. Gabriel was presented with a decorative tile made by the LWF Vocational Training Center in Beit Hanina. The subject of the tile reflects the theme of the upcoming LWF Assembly in Namibia, “Liberated by God’s Grace” and both the tile and the Assembly commemorate the 500th anniversary of the Reformation. His Excellency Mr. Gabriel also paid a visit to the German Archeological Institute, which is located on the LWF Jerusalem Mount of Olives campus.
